🕵️Metagaming

For the sake of everyone, stick to what your character knows for authentic gameplay and an immersive experience!

Metagaming refers to a player's using outside knowledge, not available to their character, to give themselves a leg up or influence their character's actions. This can include knowledge of the game's mechanics or events happening outside the character's knowledge. Discord will be referred to as “emails” and will not exist directly within the city. You may not blatantly use information you obtained on discord unless it is from the admin team directly. DM’s may be used, however public chats will not be used to tie in with the city. We understand you may be playing with friends, we ask that you keep your discord muted while playing together and use in-game voice. However, we know this rule may be the most broken in this guide, so please make sure that if you are not muted in discord, that you don’t use information you heard on discord to your advantage that would break RP (ie. If you were across town and heard your buddy saying something to someone.) Again, you should have it muted.

Other examples of metagaming include:

• Watching someone's stream while you are both in the city

• Seeing how to accomplish a task or find a secret place based on a clip or screenshot shared in Discord.

• Using knowledge from another character's backstory or personality to influence decisions, even if the current character has no knowledge of that information.

• Taking advantage and using real-life resources or tools outside the game, such as online forums or guides.

• Allowing OOC relationships with other players to influence interactions within the game.

• Using knowledge from another server to influence decisions based on common resources.
